My book about Suzanne Valadon ,Odette- Vincent's imaginary wife (because no woman ever wanted to marry him !) occupied me for 3 years until it was completed to my satisfaction. Why is this gathering seeming like such a celebration ? Do you know the name of the movie with Kirk Douglas playing Van Gogh in 1956 ?Why did John Wayne call him a loser ,and Kirk replied ? A touch of mysterious drama here but the protagonists are out enchanted in this gloriously romantic world with casual glances and profound sentiments right before our eyes ,waiting for our imaginations to join in the celebration too ! Why does Toulouse Lautrec fly so high off his steed ?What caused him earlier in life to have caused his legs to stop growing and how's he responding now I ask ? Valadon's obsession at the moment is ????? That's semi obvious but there is a late portrait in NYC called "The Lady With The Pink " by Rembrandt that changes from her outward glance to a serious moment of introspection ,and then reverts on itself .Don't believe me ? Discover for yourself at the Metropolitan Museum but see it in person if at all possible as she's a miracle that these folks would absolutely love ! After the book project was completed discoveries led me to create another series of related works of which this acrylic painting allowed me to feel liberated after being so arduously focused so long which placed me in the midst of this joyous spectacle with my adopted family !lol Here there a great many subtleties in color ,thought ,body positioning, and just plain emotion that will unfold just like a movie that hypnotizes yet relaxes you as well. This huge scale has has always been something that feels like home for me as some of my first paintings were roughly seven by eight feet ,and here I can't reveal my thoughts on the ten foot by thirty foot work that's been brewing for nine years now except think of it as the opposite of a painting named "Guernica . " The price is $28,000 and I will pay crating ,taxes ,and shipping in the US. Acrylic on canvas - 2023 and 2024 when finally completed to my amazement and satisfaction and in it my entire history of compositions with figures ,details ,color ,form ,plus expression all jelled at once. I would hope that the four participants would enjoy this special tribute also as much as I personally do. This painting was photographed hanging high up on a wall so the whole richness of the color combinations along with individual brushstrokes does not display as well as in the original work ,in other words it's even more majestic in person as anyone that has seen it absolutely loves it.
